Egyptian Mythology is distinguished by its intricate pantheon of gods and goddesses, each of which represents different aspects of the natural world and the after life. These myths are extensively recorded in ancient egyptian hieroglyphics that have come down to us.

The Egyptians placed a spacial emphasis on the afterlife and the journey of the soul through it. The afterlife was seen as a continuation of the earthly life, thus myths and legends were created to help the people to make the transition smoothly.
